The secret of genius...

...is to carry the spirit of the child into old age, which mean never losing your enthusiasm.
                                                                                                             -Aldous Huxley

Today, my charming, exuberant, ever-youthful Peter Pan of a husband turns 40. He ushered in a new decade on Saturday, in his usual extravaganza of wine, women, and song. (OK, so it wasn't wine, but Pabst Blue Ribbon - to each his own!) It was a fabulous evening, full of good music and great friends.  Also, some hats, the first knit by me:

Kind of cunning, isn't it? (And yes, he wore it on stage!)

And the second hat, captured on "film" by his band-mate & friend, Christina, who had some very lovely - and funny! - things to say about him:

Happy Birthday, Mr.Q! Thanks for being you. And also, for reaching things down off of high shelves.  I'm a lucky gal! (And if you want to keep referring to yourself as "a pair of 20-year-olds, that's just fine with me. Coz I can tell people that's who I'm married to, which is way too much fun!)

(P.S. - I love you!)

Finally!

Waking up slowly on (another!) gray, rainy Saturday...spring has been later than usual for us this year, and while I continue to be grateful that I don't have to shovel the rain, or deal with (significantly) sub-zero weather....The gray does take its toll after awhile!  But the flowers are starting to come out, and the robins are back.  I heard the first Canada geese the other day.  We had a brief respite of sunny weather a weekend or two ago, and it seemed a perfect opportunity to take my knitting out for a bit of fresh air..

Signs of spring!  O Frabjous Day!

Ladybug in her rock'n'roll colours:

A sock tree! I love when they come into season:

And they were perfectly ripe, too!

(Handmaiden's Mini-Maiden...socks with cashmere....mmmmmm! Sexy feets!)

Another flower! Knit for a friend's wedding.  It has a penis.  I'm not sure how that happened, but there you go.

Eavesdropping

A typical conversation Chez Q, as heard tonight:

Mr.Q: Knitting makes you happy, doesn't it?

Moi: Yes, of course it does!

(pause)

Moi: Except when it makes me want to stab my eyeballs out with my knitting needles.

(horrified pause)

Mr.Q: Don't do that!

Moi: As if I really would!

(dramatic pause)

Moi: I'd get blood all over my yarn.
